10 February 2017: A full-size model of the aircraft used by the first woman to fly solo from Britain to Australia has gone on public display in Hull today as part of Hull City of Culture 2017 programme.
Inmates of Hull Prison created the Gipsy Moth plane over a six-month period with the help of sculptor Leonard J Brown (pictured right leaning on post).
Amy Johnson, who was born in Hull in 1903, flew the original plane from London to Darwin in 19 days in 1930.
The model has gone on display at the city's Paragon railway station.
