7 April 2018: Hull, East Yorks, UK. Hull city centre is lit up tonight with the switch on of a new permanent installation - The Golden Hour - that shines different colour lights on some of the city’s architecture. The work is by Nayan Kulkarni, the artist behind the Siemens Blade installation last year.
Hull is the current UK City of Culture, handing over the title to Coventry in 2021.
Buildings illuminated include the Maritime Musem, Hull City Hall and Hull Minster as well as some of Hull’s most iconic statues.
The Golden Hour is part of Hull City Council’s committment to continuing its investment into culture and the arts with a £250million plan to deliver further improvements to the city’s cultural and visitor infrastructure and a pledge to provide on-going support to the city’s independent arts sector.
